Today was the day I decided to finally start the Couch to 5K app to prepare for the 5K race I signed up for in Alki Beach
As luck would have it, when I plugged in my phone to the computer to quickly change my running playlist, it of course, decided I needed to update my entire music library – FML!!! What I thought would only take a few minutes ended up taking an hour and a half …
The Day 1 workout is a 5 minute brisk walk for a warm up, then alternating 1 minute of jogging with 1.5 minutes of walking for 20 minutes, then a 5 minute cool down walk. Michael walked and I walked with him for the walk breaks and then ran ahead and back to him for the running/jogging parts of the workout. It was a beautiful day for a walk, clear skies and not too warm.
We went to Lake Youngs to check out the trail there. It is mostly gravel, which gets stuck in the grooves in the sole of the shoe, and sometimes pokes my feet. There are also several hills on this trail, and we may not come back here for a while because of that. I did the workout for the first two miles, then turned the app off while we walked back to the car, another 2 miles. I still do not understand why this lake is so secret – what is up with that?
